Helen is forecast to accelerate across the Gulf of Mexico and become a hurricane overnight or on Wednesday. It could become a major hurricane by Thursday as it moves east across the Gulf of Mexico and reaches the Great Bend coast of Florida late Thursday.

- Hurricane warning: Flamingo, Florida, Tampa Bay, Charlotte Harbor, India.
- Hurricane Warning: Central and lower Florida Keys, west of the Channel 5 Bridge, Lake Okeechobee, and parts of Mexico and Cuba.
- Hurricane Watch: Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Tampa Bay Area, Florida.
Precipitation: Heavy rainfall of 4 to 8 inches (12 isolated inches) is expected in western Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and Florida. Flash flooding is possible in the Appalachian Mountains, and earthquakes are possible.
Storm Surge: Dangerous storm surge of 10 to 15 feet across parts of Florida, especially from the Ochlockonee River to Chassahowitzka. Other areas could see surges of 10 to 10 feet, depending on location.
Degrees - Wind: Storms are expected in Mexico on Wednesday and in Florida late Thursday. Storms will hit parts of Florida on Wednesday.
